Last month, Laurie and I were fortunate to go back to the Netherlands during peak tulip season. It was my retirement trip and our second (and third) visit to the famous Keukenhof Gardens. For those who may not be familiar with Keukenhof, each year they hand plant and remove approximately 7 million tulip bulbs. That is not a typo. We visited late in the day on a sunny Easter afternoon and then when the park opened the next day which was rainy. Two very different yet equally compelling days. We also visited an amazing garden in Poldertuin Park. This is a public garden north of Amsterdam that is planted and maintained by local volunteers. It is not as manicured as Keukenhof but I absolutely loved it. Below are a few sample images, more including some taken of the huge fields, are viewable here. If you ever have an opportunity to visit during tulip season I would highly recommend it! Poldertuin Keukenhof Day 1 Keukenhof Day 2:
