Hi everyone. First thing first - I'm not well up on Nikon, I'm a Canon/Hasselblad user usually. However, my father-in-law has pulled a couple of old lenses out of the closet, and sent me the pictures of the boxes.

His questions - what Nikon digital bodies will it work with?
- do these models have autofocus that will work with digital SLR models?

The Tamron 17-35mm f2.8-4 Di LD Aspherical has a model number of A05N
The SP AF 28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD has a model number of A09N

I know that the lenses work on both full frame and crop frame cameras. But I can't seem to figure out (despite lots of searching online) whether the autofocus will work. I've found some ambiguous data about some models having a motor drive, and others not having one.

Any advice, anyone?

best

D

This is for any Nikon body with a screw type motor. They will work with lower end bodies as well without AF though (D3Xxx/D5XXX and pre-dated models without screw type AF motor) you will need to manually focus.

So with that being said.... any higher end models will work and this would be a larger range (D70-90, D100-300s, D7XXX and FX bodies)

This is the screw motor.

Hi Skene, thanks for all your advice - one question - does that go for both lenses?

Thanks to you, I was able to read up more and learn more.

So the D70, D90, D100, D300, D700, all have screw driver for autofous, right?

Thanks!

Dave
