Got to use it a bit and I'm pleased so far with it. It focuses quick. The lenses has a good build quality to it. The zoom and focus rings feel solid and rotate smoothly. My only beef is the shiny gold band on it and it didn't come with a pouch. The 6 year warranty should ensure a long relationship with it. This will be my primary lenses. My new Nikon 55-300 will be my distance shooter. I'm also looking at a 50mm prime now as well.

Good, as long as you don't expect miracles in terms of overall sharpness. It's a nice "does it all" lens...

Yes it is. When I can afford a multi-thousand dollar lenses. Then I'll start expecting perfection. Most of my blunders are self inflicted and have little to do with the equipment I own.;)

I bought that lens to put on my D5100 for the wife to shoot. SHe does not want to change lenses. She just wants to go shoot and have macro and a nice range to shoot with. This little lens seemed to fit the bill pretty good. I just put it on my D7000 and fine tuned it this morning and it did a pretty good job. I will leave it on the D5100 and keep the Nikons on the D7000 LOL
