I have been culling my photos mercilessly in an effort to free up my internal hard drive on my iMac , but it is getting to the stage where I need to move them to an external HD. I am no computer guru, so I am a little unsure if I am doing this correctly. I have read where I need to create a referenced library externally from my computer. I have started to relocate some original raw files into folders I have created on an external HD. Can anyone tell me, now that I have relocated the originals to the external HD, are the photos that remain in Aperture just thumbnails that wont take up much space ? I have read where if you have the thumbnails in Aperture, you can just click on them to access the original file that is stored on the external HD. This sounds like an ideal situation, if it is in fact what is happening. If anyone shed can some light on this, it would be much appreciated.
