This really has nothing to do with photography, apart from inserting images into emails but does anyone know a fix for the problem of clicking on a hyperlink in Outlook and getting the error that reads "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator".

I AM THE ADMINISTRATOR and I had an hour-long talk with myself over the phone and I don't know how to fix it either!

Any help, including links, would me most appreciated! I have this problem both on my laptop and my desktop.

This happens if you install Chrome (sometimes other browsers too) & uninstall it and do not make IE your default browser.
Did you do happen to do this sometime recently?
One solution that had worked for me was to clear the temp files & reset the IE settings to default.
If that doesn't work, you would have to restore a working setting for the registry.

It's not really an Outlook error btw

I have HAD GoogleChrome and toolbar installed for me without my permission, when I updated my Adobe Reader but immediately removed them through my control panel.

Yes.. that's your problem.
since you had it & uninstalled it, IE is throwing the error as it is not able to reference the Outlook files correctly

Looked for link to help with a step-by-step process..
try this - This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. | Outlook Tips | Essex, Hertfordshire, Bishop's Stortford and Harlow | Easykey

there is a link to the Microsoft fix-it site at the bottom of the page as well, so if the steps there don't work, the fix it should

Had same problems by installing Chrome, Safari and IE. too much conflict. Using control panel, removed Chrome and Safari, opened IE and set as default, rebooted and all was fine. You will have similar problems if QuickTime and MS Media are both installed.
