Men's Roller Derby bout

Had a chance to shoot a Men's Roller Derby bout last night. A friend was competing in his first bout. I setup one LumoPro LP160/Pocketwizard PlusX on a stand about 7 ft up on turn 3 facing the straight. Camped out in turn 3 and took a few shots with my D7100 & Tamron 70-200 2.8 VC.

A fun night for sure, it was interesting playing with the settings and moving the flash until I liked what I saw.

It was not awful, but the speedlight helped a great deal. I wanted to freeze the action and would have had to crank my ISO up so high to hit it. I did take a few test shots before using the light.
I even pulled some exposure out in LR during post.

Someone had three speedlights setup all along that straight away lol. They came prepared.
