Macro focusing rail ?

I'm going to take a wild shot here.
If you're into a lot of macro shooting, then it would probably be a good idea. Otherwise, like you said, it will end up on the shelf. I've also read where some of the less expensive ones so not work well with a heavy camera/lens combination. The description I read said the adjustment knob tended to stick.

On that note, for under 50 dollars it might be worth the risk.

I bought a cheap 4-way off ebay a couple years ago. It has served me well. Of course, that's not saying ALL cheap e-bay rails are OK.

I have the two way from ebay,it depends on the use,if its for general camera positioning before you focus then they work well,if its to move the lens to a critical point of focus then maybe not.

I'm just looking for a rail for my macro shots. I'm unsure what method will be used at this point. It most like will depend on the situation I guess. But I'm open to suggestions! Lol :D

PS. I did find the same rail on eBay, but not at a better price.

Bill mine lock solid once adjusted but the more you pay the better the engineering i would think, have used it for spider shots and a few flowers.

I guess I will have to see how the money pans out. Lol Do you know what brand and model your rail is? It would be good to have to add to my list, since it has worked well for you. :)

I have the same Macro rails posted by Brad.
Got the 4 way system (it's nothing but 2 of these rails one on top of the other) & it is actually great!
I don't think it can get any sturdier than this & i have tried it with the D7000 & 105mm 2.8G WITH extension tubes & the SB700 mounted... Zero shake.
Recommend it for sure..

the only issue maybe that the screws could get a little harsh on your fingers, at least initially..specially the locking screw for the camera.
