Another program i tried before the other biggies was Luminance HDR.

And as HDRtist is a freeware for the Mac, it seemed fair to showcase one for Windows as well (though Luminance is cross platform compatible)
About Luminance - It's open source, so it is community supported, nothing to pay for.
the results are FAR better than with HDRtist as this program offers all the bells & whistles of a Photomatix or HDR Efex.
Mind you, the results may not be as good as with the heavy weights, but definitely something you can live with and a lot more.
