Had a chance to try out my new lens at a local county park today. I was very satisfied with the performance. These were all shot handheld at ISO 100 with a D7100. All photos are JPEGs straight out of the camera with no editing except for cropping.

Bird house taken at 200mm 1/640 sec at f/4.

Really cropped down from 6000x4000 to 880x1042. Still a lot of fine detail. Remember this was handheld.

Dragonfly 200mm 1/800 sec at f/4 cropped from 6000x4000 to 2364x1529.

Another dragonfly at 190mm 1/400 sec at f/4 cropped to 2196x1630

Cattail at 120mm 1/400 sec at f/5. Detail might not show up in this picture but it is still extremely good. VR apparently works very good in this lens.

Nest of young swallows under a canopy at the entrance to a building. 200mm 1/60 sec at f/4 available light still ISO100 and handheld although I was braced against a doorway. Cropped from 6000x4000 to 2874x1854.

No regrets with this lens.

Love mine, but just haven't had a chance to post a review. Great image sharpness. My only complaint is that it will tend to focus hunt with my D600 at night and when the focus point is on the extreme edges.

Nice shots. When shooting hand held, with decent technique, you might expect to go as low as 1/60 or better with VRIII on stationary subjects. I did a shoot over the weekend with my 70-200 2.8VRII and grabbed some keepers at 1/80 before breaking out the tripod. Some folks claim SS as low at 1/30.
