They came out nice but it makes me wonder why shoot at f8, 1/200 in a dark place? Just curious.

Usually, that's my manual setting when shooting well-lit concerts/fashion shows. Most concerts/stage shows may have dark backgrounds, but good lighting directed at its main performers. Here , it's a public/free concert, I suspect they were cutting down on electricity (- they only used a few spotlights, so it's not well lit.) Resulting in images not as bright as I wanted.

f/8? Was aiming for good focus. I have to make do with the lenses I have.
Maybe experiment with different apertures if I only had fast lens..................;)

1/200 to avoid cam shake images.

Images may be a little dark, but I was more focused on getting the shots.
Getting more hands-on experience.

Great shots and I understand how difficult night time band shots can be, never rely on the ambient light or light provided by the producers. I bought 2 x new lenses for just one shoot (paid for by the company I shot for). It was my very first band shot Home and I had never done anything like it before, it was lucky for me that I knew the company and the band as I was able to get up close and personal.

Photos are here if you like to see what the D80 can do ;) https://www.facebook.com/muzza22au/media_set?set=a.18335687826.37065.668082826&type=3

Hi Scott,

Went thru your facebook. Hey, terrific shots! You're lucky you had your company paying for your lens. Knew the band to get up and real close.

Yep, it's hard to rely on them.

Hope to see more from you.

Thanks
