Looking to better Photography--thanks!

Ok been some months or so, and the more I learn about Lightroom and natural lighting the more my head spins. Any critique from you all would be appreciated. As I said before your friends or family tend to always tell you how great it is; maybe not to hurt your feelings. The learning comes from you all. I appreciate it. Here are some of the latest Ive done.

What is it exactly that makes your head spin about natural light? I can understand the head spinning from LR.:)

Ps. Try to post only one photo at a time in the critique section please. It will be easier for someone to give CC when there is only one photo.
Also, Exif data is extremely helpful when posting an image.

I'm not an expert on modelshooting, My first feeling in the both photo's is, that you have the sun behind your subject and twice the bright spot demands the first attention of my eyes. Make those spots little less bright and more attetion will go to your models. The first one is overall en nice shot with great atmosphere. The second one is a good portrait but maybe a little to much in the center.

I guess what I mean is what I see on camera at the time seems always different to me in lightroom, or the constant changing of light when trying to backlight the subject. Maybe Im not saying the correct terms. But its in my head LOL. as for the multiple pictures i posted 2 of them and dont know what there are attachments at the bottom. sorry.

Well, liveview isn't 100%... but it is close enough, plus, if you are shooting RAW, LR will apply a standard JPG settings from the embedded JPG.
So, you have a starting point.

There is an Facebook group called "Film Mamas, the forum" that have a lot of family portraits outside.
They all use film, but, all have that great DR and brightness. This look (like yours) is very popular, and I see it being a standard for a long while.

You do have to meter properly for the face, and use fill flash properly so you don't see the use the flash. Which looks like you did also.
I see a highlight in the eyes of older girl that looks like you may have used an off camera flash. Might be wrong.


I think you did a great job, I can't really anything to advice on, So, my critique is "Job well done"
