Looking for an all-in-one monitor

Hello all! I'm not sure what to call it so I couldn't search older threads. So my school just got brand new computers, but all the hardware is built directly into the monitor so there's no huge box to worry about(along with cables). My question is, what are these types of computers called, and would they be good for photography? I'm leaning towards the possibility that they're probably more expensive than I would like to spend on a new computer, but it's worth asking I suppose.

The most practical All-in-One computer is the Laptop with a big screen. If you want to know more search for High End Gaming laptops.

As far as photography is concerned, it depends on how much you want to invest. You can get a pretty decent PC/Laptop for $300 and go all the way beyond $10,000 for a server grade desktop with a 4K monitor(s?).

I used to prefer Windows-based PCs, but them I got my first MacBook, and I haven't looked back. Since then, I've owned two iMacs, and I even got a iPad Air recently when one became available for very little cost. I can tether third to my cameras to use as a preview monitor when I'm taking portraits.

I looked and looked at the all in ones... I struggled with price/features I already had a 27" monitor I used with my old laptop. I ended up getting a gaming laptop by Acer with 16 gig of ram and 4 gig dedicated video ram and a 1TB hard drive with a i5 processor and I am very pleased. It does a great job managing Lr and Ps and I still have some mobility.

How easy is it to upgrade these all in one PC's , like extra memory or new graphics card.

I had one in the past and while it sure is handy, upgrading is the same PITA as with laptops. Most allow very few upgrades which results in them being binned and replaced within some years.

My PC AIO and laptops usually had to be put out of their misery after about four years. And those were the pricy models.
