Lightroom - sd card

when i switched to shooting raw and downloading to lr i found my memory cards retained photos after i reformatted in camera. D600 d7100 d5100 all did the same. Camera says no folders available after reformatting. Now i delete the folder in the computer and reformat in camera, no extra pictures show up in lr.
Is there a better way to clear my memory cards?

In the camera, you press the two buttons for Format, and the top LCD shows FOR. Then, you have to release and press the two buttons again, while the FOR is showing, for it to actually format the card, and remove the files. It is an "Are you sure?" kind of thing.

Stupid question, but are you shooting RAW and jpeg, and if so, is it possible that the photos you're seeing are on a second card?

jake, shooting raw only no jpeg, slot 2 for overflow. #1 card into computer for download and photos show up.

Wayne, did not know about two button format, always used the screen display to format the cards. Tried the two button ?? How do you know when formatting done? When "for" stops flashing? I like screen format much better.

Could you be formatting the wrong card? I have never had this happen. Format in camera and they are gone.
