How come whenever I select enable profile corrections in lightroom, the corners in the photo become unnaturally white. See below:

Or am I just too used add vignetting all my photos...

I believe that this is due to corrections being made for vignetting by the lens used for the photos in question. So really, it is lightening the corners to the level that they should be at.

Looking back at the photos, the second one actually looks more natural. Weird!

LOL. NOT weird. It's what you would expect. The lens has applied unnatural vignetting, and profile corrections has appropriately lightened the edges to match the center of the image. :)

Well I kinda like the first one better. I think the added contrast helps to better define your main subject. I often add vignetting to some of my photos to bring more attention to the main subject. But, of course, we all have different taste.

You may not notice unless you load the images one on top of the other or repeatedly turn the correction on and off, but not only did it remove the vignetting, it also did a bit of pincushion distortion correction as well.

The idea is that most folks want a lens that exhibits uniform sharpness and light transference. This function corrects it, and allows you to process the image as you'd like. If you like the natural vignette you can always replicate the pincushion correction manually and store it as a LR preset and apply it first whenever you use this lens.

And I agree, I prefer the second.
