Lightroom 6 import question

I have collected all the RAW files on my computer into one folder in .nef format. I am trying, and failing, to get LR6 to import them. They appear as icons in the import window but are "grayed" out and the software will not select them.

What am I doing wrong?

It sees them in the current catalogue and won't re-import them. You've already Imported them once... You'll need to 'create' a new catalogue if you want to re-import them...

Yes, they are probably already in there somewhere and the box on the right hand pane is checked that says 'don't import suspected duplicates'. If you find them and want to move them around to different folders, etc. be sure to do it within Lightroom. If you already moved them outside of LR, then you have a small mess to clean up. Not too bad though, you can re-sync your folders.

Are you using Windows? If so, look in Windows Explorer, and find a folder named "2015". That's where they are.

How are things running with LR6? After repeatedly slow processes and trying various setting adjustments, I uninstalled.

LR5.7 works just fine but there is that extra step through DNG converter to get the files in. Anyone know how to hack LR and put newer model cameras into LR5?

I went back to LR 5.7 too.

I was thinking about upgrading to lightroom 6, but after reading on here about some of the problems, I will stick with 5.7.

Lightroom 6 is the only LR I have used and I'm still learning. Not having used the previous versions I have no complaints with it..................YET!

Things are starting to speed up for me, at least. Importing is still much slower than it was with 5.7, but exporting seemed to perk up some lately.
