Lighting advice

Hi everyone. Im still learning, but despite online courses and youtube videos, im still at a loss on controlling light.
I want to do low key full body type portraits and have some studio lighting. However I always end up with too much light and not enough shadow.
Can someone help please? Do i need more specialised lighting?

Thanks

Low-key at it's most basic is an under-exposed image. So auto exposure modes should be off. That includes auto-ISO. I would begin with a fixed ISO and aperture you want for control of depth of field. Then dial in your exposure with shutter speed. If using strobes, then shutter is also going to be static so you manually adjust flash power lower. You can fine-tune with ISO if too dark.

Thanks BF ! I have continuous lighting. Is that part of my problem? too much light ? or will adjusting setting as you advised control that ?

Thanks to both of you for taking to time answer. All help gratefully received !!
