Lens Question about Zoom

Hi

Im new to photography and my first DSLR is the D3200. I currently have the standard 18-55mm lens that comes with the camera. Im looking to buy a new lens for the camera, but im not sure which to get. I want something that has a good zoom and will allow me to zoom in close to something from a distance. By that i mean something that will allow me to go the zoo, for example, where i cant get close to the animals, but still get really close up photos.

As i said im a beginner so im not looking to spend more than a few hundred pounds, could you guys recommend any lenses.

Thanks

That should work nicely. Welcome to the forum. Consider investing on a speedlight also such as the new Nikon SB 300 or SB 700.

Welcome :)
I have the 55-200mm. If I did it over I'd opt for a nice used 55-300mm Nikon lens.

I went to the zoo in Asheboro NC last week. Before I went, I traded my 55-200 for a 55-300. The 55-300 proved to be the best choice for my trip. It was easy to handle and gave excellent results. I am very pleased with this lens. The 55-200 was very good, but this one is better.
