Wow. That is close! I'm happy the equipment is going to suffice. The trip is expensive enough already.
Yes we were lucky and most of mine were shot between the 80 - 250 range with big animals. I have never been to Kruger but I hear its better. So you should be fine. Another thing, do not experience it all behind the lens. Experience it for yourself, this is one reason why I say that my D800 getting drowned was a blessing as it opened me up to what is AFRICA.
