Message: <blockquote data-quote="cwgrizz" data-source="post: 567184" data-attributes="member: 27017">[USER=31308]@bikeit[/USER]  I think the confusion between the camera shop and here is what is being stated.  Technically (without changing things mechanically) the "lens" cannot be fine tuned, but the D7100 can compensate ("Fine Tune") for the lens.  I believe that the camera software basically can be set using the fine tuning (Don mentioned) to compensate for any "disagreement" between what the camera thinks is focus vs what the lens actually focuses on.IOW the camera body is changed software wise to make the lens focus correctly.Someone can correct me if I am all wet.
