Lens cleaning

Just out of curiosity I am currently volunteering my (along with my vet tech wifes') time at out local SPCA taking pics (they know I am not a professional and i figured good way to practice) of the animals up for adoption, however pups like to leave what I call "pup nose" on my lens when sniffing it. I ran out of lens cleaner I was using what's the best alternative when this happens? I do have a protective lens filter over the main lens to help protect it.

Use wet window wipes to get rid of the main 'crud' then when that's dried off, just use a lens cleaning pen to polish your filter.

I do this for when the kids get sticky fingers on my glass, and window wipes tend not to leave smear/streaks unlike other wet wipes

I have filters on all my lenses as will and I use eye glass cleaner that I get at the eye center at our local BJ's, but I'm sure Costco has it as well. I have also been told by several eye doctors that Viva paper towels work as well as the cloths they give you with eye glasses for wiping them down and after 7 years of practical application I have to say I believe them. Don't use the printed side if you can't find white, but spray on some cleaner and wipe with those the same way you would a lens cloth. Streak and dust free.

I would add that you could get two or three spare UV filters. Screw one on, and after the puppy assault, just change the filter. Clean them when you get home.

Thanks. My city doesn't have Costco, we have 5 walmarts though. A best buy which is where I got my original lens cleaning kit from but I will try the eyeglass cleaner I have lots of that
