L820 focus issue

I have a L820 and I'm having problems getting in focus shots in sports mode, even on a tripod. The problem appears to be vibration from pressing down the shutter and there is no remote shutter release option. Help, please!

Other modes are worse. Could it be vibration detection? Image stabilization? I believe those are the same thing but could that be a factor? I've got the camera locked down on the tripod. This could be solved with a remote shutter release. Too bad none appear to be made for this camera.

When it's on a tripod turn off the VR...You might want to check you technique..You may be pressing to firmly...It doesn't take much to activate the shutter..
