Hey guys
…thanks for the welcome!
As for the sharing, it was not always so:
When the kids were too young, I had to keep my gear tightly together and keep
it away from them. Three years ago I had a domestic accident, and I needed a
hand to do my work. First the big guy, he was 16 then. And right the week after,
the younger one (then 11) wanted to join… cool I thought!
NOT COOL AT ALL!
Within a few gigs they started with the questions. Thousands of them… and this
was not yet the bad part! When they got the answers they wanted, they kidnap
my stuff and got to shoot at will: Hey dad, this is a cool camera! What is the
difference between the three? … And these lenses? Why do you have so many?
Why do you change so often?
Can I try this? The big guy was talking about the 300 ƒ2.8 that he planned to fix
to the D3s. The younger was somewhat envious, so I decided to play the game:
"Listen, got get this there, and that big box from there as I setup a camera and
wait for you outside."
For two hours none stop, he refused to let his big brother look through the D3X
attached to my 600 ƒ4, both mounted on a heavy tripod that he was not allowed
to move an inch!
Nowadays, they tried everything. Even the new 105 macro ƒ2.8…
they took it out of
the box and discovered it together. I had a chance to look at the lens that
I bought
only when
they put it down cause it was dinner time! Thanks guys, you made my day!
Of course, I fake complaining! This whole new experience for them is just another
thing we share the three of us. After hockey and music, photography. Thrust me,
the bear is a very happy father!
