Well, a journey of 365 miles begins with 1 step, so I wanted to get Day 1 out of the way. There are 3 things I want to concentrate on this year, two of which I mentioned in Helene's thread about 365 challenges (the first two listed). 1. Continue the learning curve I'm on, defining and refining "my style", whatever that turns out to be. 2. Learn to produce results Straight Out Of Camera (SOOC) - no edits, period. 3. Get back to basics, stay simple and don't rely on filters and software to optimize images - in other words, where appropriate use nothing but Lightroom. I would love to say that I will post examples of each of these on a daily basis, but that is in no way practical given that I know that there will be days when just finding the time to squeeze the trigger after finding something in my office worth shooting will be a stretch. Also, given the limitations of this forum and the maximum 1000 pixel width, I am opting to do the resizing of any SOOC shots myself rather than relying on the forum software to do it for me. As a part of this I reserve the right to make very minor adjustments, limited to adjustments for sharpness & noise. I have spent my life shooting at Auto WB, and I know that will be an incredibly hard habit to break. But while I would love to allow myself that adjustment I will not. On this overcast New Year's Day I was grateful that my wife decided to make a big pot of chowder, which for me requires a good loaf of bread that we don't have. So, I promptly volunteered to venture out in the cold with camera in tow so I didn't have to resort to shooting things around the house as I did last year. Next to our market there is a private golf course that I was fortunate enough to play once before they went completely private and priced me out of the market. On this bitter cold day there was no one around to notice me roaming the area around the clubhouse. :) All these were shot with my D600 and 24-120mm f/4.
