IS the Sigma ART 24-105 worth a $350 premium over a Nikon 24-120 f4 vr2 ?

Just about everyone that has compared the lenses (under the microscope) says the ART is sharper across the zoom range.
Now under practical normal use (not in the lab) is the difference that Obvious ?
A Factory Nikon Refurb can be had for $550 vs $900 for a new Sigma.(I see no refurb sigmas out)
Witch would you choose and why ?
Thanks for your replies!

Hi,

with some pixel peeping, the Sigma will deliver some sharper pics.
But, as it is a walking around lens, it has no seal between the lens and body...
So, every drop can com into the body..
This summer, we were on holydays in Italy.

We walked along this water fall downwards.
One spot was a very wet but beautiful spot, I saw some compacts which didn't survive...

That's why I stay with my Nikon 24-120 F4 lens.

I was about to give you a link to a discussion on panoramas that Nasim Mansurov did where he speaks to a potential issue with the Sigma 24-105mm Art Series where its vibration reduction does not turn off fully, making it difficult/impossible to use on a tripod. It was in a "rant" section that was in this post yesterday, but not today. It's a 5 day old post and I expect Sigma has addressed whatever it was he was experiencing with him - whether it's a known issue with the camera he is using and offered a firmware upgrade (via the dock, which is really nice), or the promise of one. Nikon and Sigma have had a rocky relationship and I tend to have to send all of mine back to Sigma for firmware upgrades each time I get a new body (it's free except for my shipping to them provided I'm the original owner). So with that said, if you're thinking about getting one I would contact Sigma, tell them you saw "a post somewhere that speaks about the OS not turning off all the way on a Nikon camera" and see what they say.

And with that said, I got the 24-120mm with my D750 and it has since spent very little time unattached to something, whether my D750, D610 or D7100.
