Message: <blockquote data-quote="WayneF" data-source="post: 368587" data-attributes="member: 12496">The YN560 has two slave modes, S1 and S2.   S1 is to be triggered by a manual flash, and S2 is to be triggered by a TTL flash (S2 ignores TTL preflash).You want S1 and a manual flash trigger.  TTL wants to illuminate the subject itself, and is going to try to be full strength for the metered exposure.  The 560 is manual, the D7100 should be too.Saying, you should use S1 slave mode  (TTL trigger will not work for S1 mode), and then set the Manual internal flash to a very low manual power level directly (same menu where you select Manual mode).   Most minimum power level probably works fine as a trigger, and will have minimal effect on your lighting.</blockquote>
