Last Thursday was one of my many scheduled Doctor days. Pat took the car and was going to run to town and get us some breakfast. Doctor days are just a hassle and I do not enjoy them and this week I was going to part ways with one. Well, she was gone about 10 minutes and I hear her coming in the back door all out of breath. She said there is something wrong with the car and it is at the bottom of the driveway. So I head down the hill to check things out. She is telling me as we walk down the drive that the motor started clicking and then knocking and she turned around and pray to simply get home and her prayers were answered. I tried the key just for fun, and it sounded pretty bad. Popped the hood and there was a healthy coat of oil on everything. The car is a 2011 Hyundai Sonata and it had a recall on the motor, but it was running well with no noises and with the health issues I have been having I just could not get the car to the dealer. But now I had little or no choice. I had Pat try the key one more time and I stood looking under the hood. It is amazing how much sound proofing is in the hood and firewall.:( It was a serious knock with sparks. It has been a long time since I threw a rod on a motor. I could not see where the hole was because I do not lay on the ground and look under cars anymore, but it was an all to familiar sound. On the upside. The car is at the dealer. My nephew and a buddy of his that runs a tow service helped make that happen. The dealer paid the bill and today I learned, after a week of phone tag that the motor is being replaced no charge along with a number of other recalls. Now If I can just get the loaner car they promised... It is like I am working again. I am looking forward to the weekend to get out of the house. ;)
