I took this self-portrait about 5 about two years after I retired and yes my hair really is STLL that short ) years ago at our 3/4 scale replica of the Vietnam Wall. I am looking at only one name, SP4 Thomas “TJ” Chandler. He is on Panel 6E, Row 9, third name in. He was a very close friend of our family who was KIA March 15, 1966 at the ripe old age of 22 in that God forsaken hole of a country called Vietnam. I have a lot of very fond memories of TJ. We used to play catch whenI was 7 years old. He taught me how to throw a curve ball. He was a tall, lanky kid with a long Tennessee drawl and ears that stuck out. He was not drafted; TJ enlisted in the USArmy in 1965 because he felt an obligation to do so. I will never forget him. Rest in Peace forever TJ. In my 23 years in the US Army Infantry I have seen many people die, but there are 4, who I will never forget. Two died in training and two in combat. Michael, Ron, Don and Ricky I know you are in a better place.
