Hello
Since I switched to Windows 8, I have serious problems installing any Nikon software. I particularly care about View NX.
I normally download the 64 bit installer from here: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/18522.
When I run it, apparently everything goes fine: it opens up a "welcome.exe" program, and this creates several other windows saying "Installing ViewNX", "Installing Picture Control Utility" and so on.
It terminates telling me that Nikon View NX2 was installed correctly. The "welcome.exe" program remains open, though, until I click on it again: at that point, it asks me administrative permissions (again) and closes.
Looks like nothing has been installed: nothing is present in the "Nikon" folder inside Program Files (and neither is in the one into Program Files(x86)).
The only trace that ViewNX is installed is that an entry is present into "Installed programs", but it shows a "generic" icon, the version is 1.0.0.0 and the name "View NX" is inside quotation marks.
The entry uninstalls and disappears, but still nothing is installed.
I had similar problems trying to install Capture NX2.
I believe it's a problem in the installer and that the "welcome.exe" doesn't actually launch the correct installer, but how can I fix this?
Everything was working fine with Windows 7, but launching the installer in compatibility mode didn't help.
