Iceland and Norway?

Ok I am planning a trip to Iceland and Norway leaving Australia December 16th 2015 and am wondering if anyone on this forum has any advice regarding planning photography trips/tours from Reykjavik Iceland and Oslo Norway. Any information would be great. PS I know it will be very very cold. Am chasing the northern lights and amazing dramatic scenery.

I spend a couple of months in Oslo some years ago and while the city has nice areas to take shots, the real (natural) beauty of Norway is higher up north. In the Oslo area I very much liked Frogner Park (if you dig statues and such). For night-sky shots that area is a bit too polluted and you'll have to move a bit north but that's not easy during the winter.

Also keep in mind that life in Norway can be very, very expensive in comparison to what you are used to. I remember paying five times as much for a beer as I do here.

Thanks for that J-see, I may look at trying to get further north in Norway. If it was easy it wouldn't be an adventure hey ;) also not too worried about beer prices. Might even try couch surfing there, I wonder what it would be like.

The Shetlands are nice too Scott, depending on the time of year you can get boat tours around the cliffs to photograph Puffins too.

You'll enjoy it there. Of all places in Europe I've been, Norway and Oslo remain my favorites. As a bonus, their women are the prettiest of all in Scandinavia.

To add: I've never been to Iceland but had a mate so; if you want to test your manliness, order some of their exquisite Hakarl. ;)
