I headed WNW out of Springerville into the mountains today. I got up to about 9600 feet in places. A lot of the snow is still there, even though the temperatures were hovering around 40. There are a lot of stands of Aspen up there, especially in the higher elevations. I also came upon some old decrepit barns and houses there and stopped to photograph them. I love to photograph textures on old and weathered wood. A stand of Aspens, 85mm f/1.4 AIS An old, abandoned barn. The contrast between the red paint and bare wood was quite interesting and the roof was missing some sheet metal as well I tried some HDR on that barn but I am kind of on the fence as to whether I like it or not. I am a much more "literal" kind of photographer. These last two were what really caught my eye. They both make me really wish I had dragged the Hasselblad along with me to Springerville. Of course that would have meant also dragging reels, tanks, thermometers, jugs of chemicals, GraLab and other darkroom stuff not to mention that beast of a Nikon CoolScan LS-8000 scanner, which is about 2 1/2 feet deep
