Hmmm you talking to yourself???

But seriously why post in 16x9 format?

Well, since you're here now, I don't have to talk to myself.:D

I just started it a few days ago, and it looks better to me then the other way. At least for now. I may go back to the old way, we'll see.

I use 16X9 quite often. It is a good format.

I keep all my photos to the standards, 8X10, 8X12, 9X16, 10X20, and so on.

Making up a format size doesn't make sense to me when you can plan it all out in processing.

I don't think that "locking" yourself in to one format size will last for long. Each photo you take will call for it's own format. Just sayin'.

At first, I was going to offer my sympathies, but maybe better to try to be constructive.

Instead of 16:9 at 1.78 to 1, why not the Golden Ratio of 1.618? Near 16:10. At least this has historical support (dead Greeks) :)

Ahhh, someone who's familiar with the golden rule. Or ratio as you put it. I didn't think to many people new about that.

As I mostly crop out the superfluous, my ratios are never standards. Still if I wanted to print, I would use the standard paper sizes - 6x4, 8x10 for smaller sizes and A3, A2 and A1 for larger.

I tried that a while ago, and found I couldnt get nice frames for anything over A4, so before I print anything in future I will see what size options are available for frames that "suit" the photo.

The ratio is known. :) Golden ratio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Was a big deal to Euclid, Plato, Pythagoras, da Vinci, etc, etc, etc. Called the Divine Proportion. The Parthenon, etc.

"Biologists, artists, musicians, historians, architects, psychologists, and even mystics have pondered and debated the basis of its ubiquity and appeal. In fact, it is probably fair to say that the Golden Ratio has inspired thinkers of all disciplines like no other number in the history of mathematics."

For example, Amazon.com: golden ratio

16:9 is so close, yet so far. :) It is closer to 16:10. In time between 4:3 and 16:9, wide screen monitors were 16:10.
