One weekend recently we had three different groups going to three different places. One of the groups when on a two day trip to the Sipsey Wilderness which is all back country with lots of hiking and beautiful waterfalls. The guide gave them a talk before they started and one of the points he made was  "If you fall out and can't continue on the others will take all your gear and food and divide it up between the others."So same goes if your wife takes you out.
