I can't afford a SB-700 Speedlight atm. Any other makes good or not?

I was considering gettingt the 900 but im very scared after what my friend told me with his repairs. Im a bit confused because he shoots at very high iso (like me) and the flash wouldnt have to fire so much power or is it time. to get the correct exposure so I dont know. im afraid to take a chance. just like I bought the d600 knowing theres the oil/dust issue. but I have warranty on that. if I buy a used 900 im screwed if it gets sick..</p><p></p><p>but that sb700 is a great flash. it does get hot to the touch but the temp reading didnt get high so im confused.</p></blockquote><p></p>
