Huntsman Spider

Today while trying to photograph a Kingfisher, I was leaning on a large tree for support. This Huntsman Spider took exception to me after I disturbed him , he was waving his legs around and trying to push my arm away from the tree .

He was about 150mm/ 6 inches across , not fully grown but starting to get pretty big.

Just last week, someone from a town about an hour drive to the west of where I live, posted this video on Facebook, it made the news on TV. Huntsman Spider kills mouse on the side of the refrigerator.

I thought Huntsman Spiders were harmless ?

I have been bitten by one on the finger when I tried to get it out of my car. Quite a painful bite, but I got no other effects.

Obviously not harmless to mice though

I saw that video of the spider/mouse. I asked my wife what would she rather have in the house, what a look I got. lol
