How to remove copyright info on hundreds of photos

I inadvertently left my D610 set with my copyright info, and when I take theater photos of the students, I don't want it attached to the files. The reason is when the photos are posted to Facebook, the copyright info is automatically added as a comment to every photo, and with hundreds of photos, it would be a pain to remove it one-by-one. I do NOT export as a web file. These files need to be appropriately sized for printing.

Is there some way on export from Lightroom or in PCC to remove the copyright? For these photos, I don't even need the camera EXIF so it won't matter if that gets deleted, too. Is there some way of removing it upon export, or do you have other suggestions on a mass removal of the copyright and/or all the EXIF? Thanks for any info! :)

I believe using View NX2 you can edit the one field in multiple without editing other fields. You could try this with a few to confirm.

Edited to clarify I think this works with multiple images.

@hark.....I might be wrong, but if you inserted the copyright directly from your camera, intead of through LR, then I'm afraid you probably will not be able to remove it unless someone has a plan. When set from your camera, it is pretty much set in stone. If you set it from Lightroom, it's easy, just export again without the watermarks. Hope this is correct....don't like giving bad information. You can always use photoshop to reove the symbol and name. I looked it up in my 610 book and all it tells you is how to embed the copyright, not how to remove it. Sorry.

Easiest thing would be to use Lightroom. On the Import dialog in the Apply During Import section select a New option in the Metadata section and create something called Blank Copyright. Activate each section that you want to erase and then activate each line within that section. Do not put any information in the text boxes and it will clear whatever is there from the photo on import. Once you've created that, import all the photos you want to wipe (you can do this to a new Catalog if you don't want to make sure you don't mess with the current one), and that should be all you need to do as it will wipe the information on import - just pick Copy at the top if you want a new copy of the photo without copyright info, or Add if you want to just wipe it in place.

It's a shame you can only give a single Like to a post, otherwise I'd have given 10...

LR doesn't let you strip the data on export anymore, and I thought, what a dumb move... What it appears is, they simply added it to the import process...

Thanks Jake...

Thank you to everyone who offered suggestions as I really appreciated any help with this. I searched online but came up empty. I wound up trying Jake's suggestion which works perfectly! Whew! I have over 400 photos to go through--some will be deleted, but for all the ones that will be edited, this will save me tons of time! Jake, thank you so much!!! :eagerness:

I was just on that part of Lightroom yesterday but it didn't ring a bell.....guess I wasn't ready to learn that neat little trick. Thanks Jake, you're worth your weight in gold.

One thing I should add, if you do this, make sure you go back to your regular Copyright profile before you import your next set of real images.

Just wondering how many people set the copyright info in their camera body as opposed to adding it in during post processing....

Since I am now editing in PCC 2014 Camera Raw and not Lightroom, does anyone know of a way to eliminate my copyright name from the images? Thanks for any info!

Same thing. You're not using LR for its intended purpose, just as a tool for copyright removal. Do all your editing, save them in place, then open LR, create a new catalog, Add the photos to the catalog with the Blank Copyright preset, and it should strip the metadata in place.

BTW, I highly recommend using LR even if you're doing zero editing in it. Best catalog management tool out there, and it comes with your subscription. Import into there, right-click on your photo and "Edit in Photoshop CC 2014", then invoke the "Edit in Camera RAW" if you prefer doing it there, but that seems a bit odd to me as I find the LR arrangement of the same sliders far more convenient and accessible.

The reason why I use PCC is because I clean up the numerous marks on the stage floor. There are so many--some of which are tape while others are paint splotches. Although I don't remove all of the marks, I try to remove the most obvious ones. Thanks for the info! I will give it a try! :)

Ah-ha! I figured it out. While a file is open in PCC 2014, I went to File→File Info which brought up info including the copyright. All I had to do was to delete my copyright name and save the info. Simple! :)
