Actually I had one of my first expensive bridge cameras I bought around 7 years ago, a wave came inland farther then expected. My camera was on the beach farther back then the rest of the tourists. This wave decided to reach my area and no one else. There went around $600.

Ouch.
I don't remember where I saw the pic but there was a post of a photographer dropping and breaking her $10,000 600mm f/4 lens.
