One click, set the scope of the change with a slider and you can then adjust most of the same parameters you've set for the entire image to a local area based on the color, brightness and texture of the point you clicked on. In other words, if I want to increase the structure/texture of the road before the bridge without effecting any thing else I insert a control point there, size it accordingly (which probably covers 1/3 of the space in front), make my adjustments, and then copy and paste duplicate control points as needed to cover the full area with the exact same settings. It would also allow me to adjust shade and temperature if there's color casting anywhere. Great tool that makes work very easy.
Thanks, Pat. I do all my HDR work in Nik HDR Efex Pro 2. Their use of intelligent control point technology is what sets them apart, IMO. You can set up masks in PS to do similar things, but not with the ease and speed that control points give you. I've never used Photomatix, but I can't imagine anything being easier to use than this. Definitely worth downloading a trial and checking it out if you like doing HDR work.
