Very representative of the boy. My daughter came home and told me the night was terrible. He ate like a slob. So much so that the guy from the other couple they went with told him so. Then at the Homecoming dance she said she hardly saw him. And finally she capped it all of telling me that not once did a door ever get held open for her by the date.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 10px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 10px">My response... we have decided that you are no longer allowed to pick you own dates. You suck at it. Furthermore, your marriage will be arranged for you. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 10px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 10px">At this point she could only acknowledge that we were right. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 10px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 10px">Maybe one day she will figure out that just because you're single at the moment when a sea slug wearing a human for shoes comes along and asks you to Homecoming you can decline. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 10px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 10px">In the end, my daughter said that the evening was actually my fault. She says today's boys are failing at their apprenticeship of becoming men. Video games seem to be their number one interest now. A drivers licence is no longer a priority, and many of the boys in high school are more feminine than the ladies. She says I have ruined her because from my example she expects a young man to get her door, put her before their video game, and to not have more drama in their lives than the girls. I just hugged her and told her when a young "man" comes along he will do these things and don't settle for the toads along the way. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 10px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 10px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 10px"></span></p></blockquote><p></p>
