If I upgrade, the D7500 will likely be my choice. Shooting trains, the buffer and burst rate would be most welcome. The D500s lack of a built-in flash lessens its interest to me. I don't use a flash often, but when I do, I want convenience.
Tho most anything would be a quantum leap beyond my D5100, now ten years old.

Also one of the reason I kept my D7200 and did not get a D500.
