Hey there people

My name is Dennis. Over the past couple years I've become more and more interested in photography. Lately, I've been getting a real itch to purchase a DSLR camera to start off as a beginner but am so confused at what to get. I've had a coolpix and a canon, both pocket cameras, in the past and want to step it up now. Now that I have a kid, I need something that has a much faster shutter speed and allows me to take better pics. Hopefully I will find the help and tips needed on here.

hello and welcome to the forum, what sort of money do you want to spend, that will narrow your camera search.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I've been looking at the d3100 and the d3200. Probably wanna stay around 300 to 400 to start off with.

Welcome Dennis, pull up a chair and sit a spell!

Cameras are like shoes not one shoe fits all people, but the people here are very knowledgeable and will be able to give good advice.

Welcome to the Nikon Family of Fanatics, Dennis. :) Tip #1: Read the Manual! :) Congrats on your new D3100. Great camera to get started. You will enjoy it. Tons of potential. :)
