First off.. sorry for all these postings...
But this has just escalated into virtual insanity.
Another customer service agent contacted me with this information...
The Low pass filter was cleaned not replaced. I'm sorry for any confusion on your previous call. I have included the total operations completed on your camera below. This information will also be on the invoice within your package.

CLEAN LOW PASS FILTER
CHECKED COMMUNICATION
CHECKED IMAGE TEST
CHECKED AUTO FOCUS OPERATION
CHECKED SHUTTER MECHANISM

Thats fine and dandy. what I sent it in for. But... the insane part is that they have charged me the 155.90 for replacing the low pass filter.
They see that in front of their own eyes... see that the tech said he didn't replace it... see the charge that he did... and they don't think anything is wrong with this.
I'm done.. to much head shaking over this that the 155.00 paid now saved 200.00 of chiropractic work on my neck. :)

Just curious, but when you sent it in did you first arrange to have it checked under warranty or did you just box it up and send it under a service order you entered on their website? If you did not arrange for warranty service in the first place then it's you sending it in for a cleaning, which is not covered under warranty, even though the camera is still under warranty. Yes, they are looking at and cleaning/"fixing" D600's, but you need to get them to authorize service first. If you didn't then I suspect that's your problem - and I suspect you're out what amounts to an outrageous charge for a cleaning.

Also, I could be wrong but the last I checked there are no "authorized service centers" for the D600. Nikon seems to be pulling all the work in house, another thing that sucks tremendously. Send it to them or risk voiding your warranty. Nice. :-(

Maybe I didn't clarify that in the original post. I did call first and had it authorized. I always call them before I pack it up and ship to them.
As far as I know... There is an authorized nikon service center up in Portland Oregon, Associated Camera, which I have used before. Maybe they aren't taking on the d600?
Anyway, last conversation I've had with Nikon USA, which was this morning, I mentioned I would send Nikon Japan all the emails back and forth. Within 1/2 hour I get a message back stating she was following up with me and a reimbursement for the 156.90 has been processed. Said it could take up to two weeks for the funds to be returned.

Hi from Eugene Mark! Any updates? I'll be sending mine in for a second time this week.... I had no issues the first time I sent it in for dust.

Howdy from Bend :)
Mine came back with smudges all over the sensor. I've never had an issue with dust or oil... Occasional dust as with any sensor. But first picture I took out of the box was full of halos, so I opened it up and looked. Took that picture and sent it off to nikon along with the exif data, wet cleaned it... But nikon sent me a return shipping label. I've since said I won't send it back to them. But I am thinking of selling it and just popping for a d610 or d800
But with my ankle.. it won't be until this spring before I can get out and shoot... so I have plenty of time to wait and see what I want.
