Would love feedback on lighting or anything to make this picture better? The sun was very bright so I am trying to mess around with it to see if I can improve the look. DSC_1787.jpg

Others may better advise you as to the technical fine points but I would just say that it does not relate to it's surroundings. Nothing anchors it to the landscape around it. It could be a small stretch of stream anywhere which makes it somewhat unremarkable. It needs more context. The colors are fine, the sparkle in the water is very nice but nothing leads the eye into the photo. Pull back and give us more area to explore with our eyes.
It is always good to get the same shot at different focal lengths and from altered perspective so that you can choose the most pleasing exposure. Nonetheless, it is a good start.

Thanks for the input. I actually was just looking for color advice and contrast etc; I took about 30 other shots all different angles.. This one was just kind of a close up of the water. It was just very bright out and many of them came out sorta weird looking.

Thank you !! I am pretty sure I changed my setting to landscape on this one.. and I wasn't as close.. so maybe that made the difference??

@mom2nj. May I also suggest that when shooting water on a bright and sunny day, a polarizer filter would eliminate much of the bright reflections coming off of it.

Black top is absolutely right. That is the first
thing I should have mentioned. Hoya is a good brand of polarizer that is still reasonably priced. It can help in all of your outdoor shooting.
