Hello from Canada

Hey everyone,

My name is Doug,

I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. I started photography about 6 years ago with a Canon 7Dmk1. At that time I was full auto and didn't really know what I was doing. About a year after I got the equipment, I started working Construction and sold my gear to help pay bills off. Fast forward 5 years and I am back in the photography scene as I have a different job now.

I am shooting a Nikon D7100, I have a Nikon 50mm F 1.8G, and a Sigma 70-200mm F 2.8 and a SB 700 flash. I learned how to get out of auto and went straight manual in 5 months or less. I was recently told on another forum to get out of manual and start in A mode for now and learn how to get proper composition in my pictures.

So I am here to learn and share my growth as well and hope to get helpful and non harsh tips and tricks.

My goal is to take those shots that people can just say "WOW" when they look at it. I know it will take time and patience. I am willing to take the time to learn and get to understand. Then eventually I want to move to a Full Frame body like the D750 after and keep the 7100 for sports and wildlife and the FF for everything else.

Anyways, wanted to say hi and look forward to learning here and helping when I can.

Thanks

-Doug

Welcome to Nikonites Doug,

Learning photography is something that is a never ending project. You've come to the right place to learn and share because we are a very friendly bunch. Just by browsing in our different sub-forums you can see a lot of photography that can show you what can be done with light and a camera.

So welcome again, and don't hesitate to post your pictures, participate in our weekly and monthly challenges and assignments. First thing you'll know is that you'll have improved and people will start saying how much "WOW" factor your images have.

Enjoy your Nikon.

Thank you for the warm welcomes.

I leave Thursday Dec 10th at 6:25am to head to Orlando Florida to Disney World with the family. So I will be taking a lot of pictures. Will bring them home and edit them and post them to see what I could have done differently.

Looking forward to being on the forums
