HDR or not HDR

Dave, your HDR's don't scream HDR, and I like that - detail at all tonal levels but not overcooked. I really like the first pic you posted, is that all natural light?
I know this isn't the photo critique section, but one thing that I personally think could improve some of these shots is removing the vignette... if you didn't add vignette, remove the lens vignetting. I hate the effect it has on the edges of the sky, especially in sunset shots. I know you're wanting to enter some of these into competitions and perhaps that might be how the judges see it too. I have no idea though, it's just a thought to ponder.
You have some beautiful coastline there to shoot on!

Now you just have to ask yourself the question... since you tricked everyone (including myself) with that first picture, why bother with all the trouble of HDR if you can achieve the same result with one exposure and LR tweaks? I suppose there can be situations where HDR is the only viable way to get everything looking exposed correctly, and your ability to cook a nice HDR will come in handy. :)

Really like that first picture too. Is that all natural light?

In case you missed it you need to go look at Dave's sunsets
