Then I read about your eureka(!) moment. They are lightweight, very portable and can really save you in a pinch. Mine has this little fold down step at the bottom you can stand on to steady it further.  Back when I was shooting sports for my college yearbook back in the 70's, shooting with a 300mm and 500mm (mirror) lens became quite a tiring chore after a while but a monopod saved the day. They were a brand new invention back then. Now I don't go anwhere without mine strapped to the bottom of my camera bag.</p></blockquote><p></p>
