Experimenting with D700 & 28-300VR ISO 500 7.1@ 300mm Looks like I am going to using this lens for wildlife more often.

Love this shot! Your focus seems to be the birds eye and the way the DOF drops off the feathers everything draws me right back to the eye. I like the crop and the way it fills the frame, I would say one fine job of capturing the grouse. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Bill, it let me get fairly close, so with the 28-300 @ 300mm I had a great opportunity. I am really impressed with that lens.

That is Grouse Washington, the first feathered President of the Unites Fields of America.

He is most famous for flying over Valley Forge without getting shot!

He was a helluva President. :)

This has been a history lesson for Stamatis. :cool:

LOL - on top of that they are great eating mostly it's cousin the "Blue Spruce Grouse" they are much bigger :)
