Grey card crosshair

Hi Guys,

Quick (and probably daft) question - with grey cards such as this one that have a white crosshair in the middle - does the colour of the white crosshair affect your white balancing?

As long as it is a shade of grey it will not make a difference.

I'm guessing, it needs the cross-hairs for contrast so the auto-focus has something to use to focus on. I was shooting some test stuff at a white screen this morning and my AF was going ballistic searching and couldn't/wouldn't focus... as soon as I changed the focus point to an area with text... it immediately quit searching and focused on the text...
