This week at my local Air Force base, they will be conducting air to air combat training. Kind of like Top Gun...there are several good spots out here for taking pics. A lot of the time the jets are low enough to see the pilots...I'm hoping my 70-200 tamron will yield some decent shots, and I'll bring my tripod along...could be pretty interesting long exposures with them doing maneuvers at night...

Regardless of where the thread ultimately winds up, I for one will be looking forward to seeing the photos that you produce. Sounds like a good opportunity, indeed.

Having shot at a few air shows, I'd advise bringing along several lenses. You just never know what opportunities will present themselves, including some wide-angle looks of various formations.
