But if the sun is shining directly on your subject from the front, quite often 600 watts or more works better (depends on how bright the sun is).</p><p></p><p>I use MagMod for a lot of my modifiers so am not familiar with the packages. </p><p></p><p>Soft boxes tend to be a little better than umbrellas but also cost more. Bigger soft boxes offer softer light. Soft boxes with a white interior are softer than those with silver; however, silver offers slightly more contrast - and possibly a slight amount more light being reflected. Outdoors you wouldn't want a soft box that is overly large (can blow over more easily than a smaller one). Deeper soft boxes give less light than a shallower soft box of the same diameter. And deeper ones tend to act more like having a grid (more directional). There's nothing wrong with deeper ones - just depends on what you want to achieve.</p><p></p><p>If the packages come with either the Pro trigger or the less expensive one, everything I've heard about the less expensive one is sometimes it fires intermittently.
