Haha, sorry. I purchased the Nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens. I got a solid deal on it through Amazon. I mainly just want to shoot animals, landscapes and do family shots, etc. Anything you would recommend?

You might want to add something like 18-55mm to your collection for family shots.

I am not quite ready for a new lens. I have yet to take my first shot. What about filters? Flashes? Bags? What are some must have items for the D5100?

The 16-85 is, in my opinion, the best Dx zoom available and the price is very reasonable. I would get that over an external flash or any other accessories.

Yep. The 16-85 is a good lens. I've got one for sale, now.

Once you start shooting you will see exactly what you need. More towards wide angle (broader landscapes), faster lens (f/2.8 or lower - more $$$ more but higher quality), macro for close-ups.

Look at what imaging software you have - you will need that for sure. There may be some good programs you can get for free but having a camera like this (I have a D5100 too and love it) means before long your going to want to get the images in your computer and really make them best they can be and use a whole other creative part of the process.
